HC Deb 16 January 1913 vol 46 c2260
80 and 113. Mr. BARNES

asked the President of the Local Government Board (1) if he can now give an assurance that the cost of the cottages sanctioned for the Winterbourne Zelstone estate will not become a charge on the small holders who have already been charged in their rent for houses condemned as uninhabitable; and (2) if he can now give an assurance that the £920 sanctioned by the Local Government Board for the construction of two cottages at Winterbourne Zelstone, Dorset, will not be charged to the small holders on such estate, seeing that the houses to be erected are in substitution for houses supplied them by the county council and already charged for in fixing the rents, and which have been condemned as uninhabitable?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Runciman)

It is proposed to rearrange some of the holdings on the estate to which the hon. Member refers, and this will involve some readjustment of the rents, but there will be no increase in the total rents payable.
