asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what has been the importation of gold from all sources of supply for the twelve months commencing 1st January, 1912, and what was the aggregate sale of Council Bills for the same twelve months?

Mr. BAKER

The net imports of gold into India during the period in question amounted to approximately £27,637,627, and the sales of Council Bills and Telegraphic Transfers to Rs.420,391,268, producing in sterling £28,173,143 2s. 4d.

Mr. BIGLAND

Will the hon. Gentleman take counsel with the authorities in India as to whether it will be possible to so arrange their monetary returns—
