§ 13. Mr. HUNTasked how many miles, roughly, General Bethune has travelled and how many meetings he has addressed on his tour for obtaining Territorial recruits; and whether he can say how much money the tour cost, and what was the number of recruits obtained?
§ Colonel SEELYGeneral Bethune has visited about sixty places and attended about a hundred meetings, but it is not practicable to estimate the mileage covered. The cost of the tours to the public may be taken as about £125. The number of recruits taken in Great Britain during the period of his tour was 11,069, and the number of re-engagements was 3,639, as compared with 7,929 and 2,088 in the corresponding period of the year 1911.
§ Colonel SEELYWell! The facts I have stated coincided with the tour. I cannot say more.
