HC Deb 04 February 1913 vol 47 cc1980-1
40. Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if any arrangement has yet been made with the Argentine Government for the reduction of the period of the embargo upon British live stock to less than six months in the event of an outbreak of foot-and-mouth or other seriously contagious animal disease in this country, and for the discrimination between various parts of England in the event of such an embargo being imposed?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Runciman)

I appreciate the urgent importance of this question. Negotiations are proceeding as rapidly as possible, and I hope that I may very soon be in a position to make a definite announcement.
