HC Deb 29 April 1913 vol 52 cc992-3
45. Viscount WOLMER

asked the Prime Minister if he will state how many petitions he has received in favour of the Established Church (Wales) Bill, and how many petitions against it?

Mr. McKENNA (for the Prime Minister)

My right hon. Friend has received numerous resolutions, both in favour of and against, the Bill, but no record of the numbers has been kept.

Viscount WOLMER

Does the right hon. Gentleman mean that they have been thrown into the waste-paper basket without receiving any attention?

Mr. McKENNA

I made no such answer to the Noble Lord's question.

47. Mr. GOULDING

asked whether the Government have decided to refuse to accept any Amendment to the Established Church (Wales) Bill on its reconsideration in this House during the present Session?

Mr. McKENNA

My right hon. Friend is not prepared to anticipate the announcement which will be made in due time of the intentions of the Government on this subject.

Mr. GOULDING

Are we to understand that there is no truth in the statement that no further concession will be made to the Welsh Church?

Mr. McKENNA

That supplementary question does not arise out of the answer.
