HC Deb 29 April 1913 vol 52 cc993-4
49. Mr. FALLE

asked when the members of the Royal Commission on the Civil Service will return from India to this country; and if he can say if any salary in addition to their salaries as Members of this House, has been or is to be paid these gentlemen, and if any travelling allowances are being given?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I understand that the Members of the Royal Commission are expected to return to England on the 2nd May. Those who were appointed in this country receive no salary, but have been granted during their absence from England a subsistence allowance in addition to the actual cost of locomotion.

Mr. COOPER

Are travelling allowances going to be made to Members of this Commission whilst engaged upon tiger shooting?

Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

Has the practice in the case of this Commission been any different to the practice in the case of other Commissions?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

No; we have simply followed the usual practice.
