Mr. BENNETT-GOLDNEYasked (1) how long it will take before information can be given to this House as to the actual effective strength of the National Reserve and the numbers of men in Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3, respectively; and (2) whether the number of 190,000, which has been estimated officially as the effective strength of the National Reserve, has increased since 1st January, 1913; and whether, as on the 17th of March last there were no statistics available to show the number of men who had been struck off the registers of the Veteran and National Reserves since their formation on 21st May, 1910, and 5th August, 1911, respectively, for any of the following causes, namely, found to belong to the Army Reserve or Special Reserve, for misconduct, physical unfitness, resignation, emigration, death, or other reasons, the figure 190,000 still bears an approximate relation to the real effective strength of the National Reserve or whether such effective strength is at present an unknown quantity?
