HC Deb 31 October 1912 vol 43 cc571-2
88. Sir PHILIP SASSOON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he has received a letter from the National Society of Free Workers concerning the registration of that society under the Friendly Societies Act; and whether he will accede to their request?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The society mentioned has applied for registration under Section 8 (5) of the Friendly Societies Act of 1896. The society has been informed that its purpose, as set forth in its rules, is not sufficiently definite to justify the Treasury in authorising it under that Section as a purpose to which the provisions of the Act ought to be extended.
