HC Deb 28 October 1912 vol 43 c17
29. Mr. KEBTY-FLETCHER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will consider the advisability of choosing more suitable names for the new destroyers than "Rosalind," "Viola," and "Florizel"?

Mr. CHURCHILL

There would appear to be as much to say in favour of the names mentioned as for "Ferret," 'Badger," and "Jackal."

Mr. KEBTY-FLETCHER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in shipping circles these names and the names he mentions are considered preposterous?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I do not know how far the hon. Gentleman speaks for shipping circles.
