HC Deb 28 October 1912 vol 43 cc21-2
38. Mr. MULDOON

asked whether the recommendation of the Development Commissioners to the Treasury to place, under certain conditions, a grant of £2,000 at the disposal of the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society was opposed by the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction in Ireland, by the Agricultural Board, by the Council of Agriculture, by the county committees so far as they had spoken, and by the trades of the country; whether the Commissioners, in the teeth of this opposition, themselves tried to set up a committee to act with the society and administer the grant; whether this effort failed by the refusal of every person, save one, who was asked to act upon such committee; and whether the Development Commissioners intend to take any steps, and, if so, what steps in reference to this matter?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I can add nothing to the answer which I gave the hon. Member on Monday last on this subject. The whole matter is receiving consideration.
