41. Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

asked in how many cases proceedings have been taken against defaulters under the National Insurance Act in England. Wales, Scotland, and Ireland respectively?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I beg to refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Great Yarmouth on the 14th instant. Since then proceedings in connection with Part I. of the Act have been instituted in two cases by the Irish Commissioners and in nine by the English Commissioners.

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

Any by the Welsh?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No, I do not think it is regarded as necessary in Wales.
