HC Deb 16 October 1912 vol 42 c1226
73. Mr. RENDALL

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has now considered the request from the inhabitants of Rangeworthy, Gloucestershire, that the post office there should have returned to it the power to accept Post Office savings, recently taken away, whereby the inhabitants are compelled to walk two miles to a Post Office savings bank, and an unnecessary obstacle to their thrift is created?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Herbert Samuel)

The system of weekly cash accounting at smaller post offices is being introduced experimentally, and if successful may admit of Savings Bank facilities being granted where Money Order business is clearly not warranted, as is the case at Rangeworthy. The claims of that office will not be lost sight of when the time arrives.
