HC Deb 26 November 1912 vol 44 cc1001-2
42. MARQUESS Of TULLIBARDINE

asked whether there is any vacancy at present in the office of the Register for Sasines caused by the removal of an official in that office in the beginning of October; and, if so, when is it intended to fill it up, and have the Civil Service Commissioners no qualified person whom they can recommend to fill up the vacancy?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. It is proposed to defer filling the vacancy pending the holding of another competitive examination, which will be held in due course. Three appointments have already been made upon the basis of the last examination held, when there were eleven competitors, and the keeper of the Register of Sasines prefers to await the results of another examination before making other appointments.

MARQUESS of TULLIBARDINE

Will the right hon. Gentleman read certain correspondence I have on the subject?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Certainly, with pleasure.
