HC Deb 21 November 1912 vol 44 cc464-5
42. Mr. KING

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he has information that Stafford House has been purchased by a gentleman who intends to offer it to the nation; whether a definite offer has been made; and whether any information can be given on this matter?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)

The First Commissioner regrets that he cannot make any statement on this matter at present.

Mr. KING

In order to allay difficulties and rumours, can the hon. Gentleman say whether it is intended to make this an official residence for the Government Whips?

Mr. SPEAKER

The answer given to the question was that the hon. Member could not make any statement.
