HC Deb 21 November 1912 vol 44 cc484-5
94. Mr. JAMES PARKER

asked whether the National Insurance Commissioners have received any complaints from the Agricultural Labourers' and Rural Workers' Union with respect to the action of some farmers in deducting 4d. from the wages of labourers in their employment, the wages of such labourers being only 2s. 2d. per day, or 13s. for a six-day week; and, if so, what action is contemplated by the Commissioners?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Several complaints of the kind referred to by my hon. Friend have been received. In some cases the employers have now undertaken to proceed in conformity with the provisions of the National Insurance Act. As regards other cases, inquiries are still in progress.
