asked if, in the event of the Government of Ireland Bill becoming law, and provided that the new Irish Government is willing to transfer members of the Civil Service who are, under the terms and conditions of their appointment, transferable, the Imperial Government will accept such officers for employment in similar capacities in the Imperial service?

No general promise of the kind can be given. Each application for transfer will be dealt with on its merits.
