HC Deb 20 November 1912 vol 44 c268
6. Major ARCHER-SHEE

asked whether the naval subsidies paid by the Governments of Australia and New Zealand are dependent upon the efficient condition of His Majesty's ships on the Australian station; and, if so, whether any recent representations have been received from either of these Governments as to the condition of His Majesty's ships in Australasian waters?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No, Sir. The Regulations, which provide for the proper maintenance of His Majesty's ships in a seaworthy condition, are quite sufficient for the purpose, provided they are strictly observed. Where breach of Regulations is proved against individuals, disciplinary action will be taken.
