§ 15. Sir JOHN JARDINEasked the Secretary for Scotland whether, as a cause of the decrease of the rural population of the county of Roxburgh, his attention has been drawn to the increase in the number of led-farms, whereby several, and sometimes many, farms are let to one tenant farmer; if he can state the number of led-farms in the county and the number of tenant farmers working them; and what measures, if any, he can see his way to use under the circumstances?
Mr. McKINNON WOODIn view of my hon. Friend's question, I have made inquiry into the matter, and am informed that there are not any statistics available as to the number of led-farms in Roxburghshire or the number of tenant farmers working them. In answer to the last part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I have given to his last question.
