HC Deb 19 November 1912 vol 44 cc102-3
29. Mr. BOLAND

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether negotiations have been completed for the purchase of the Fuller estate, near Cahirciveen, and, if so, can he state on what terms?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

The Congested Districts Board have decided to make an offer for the purchase of this estate.

32. Mr. NEWMAN

asked what are the land purchase enactments contained in Land Acts not specially Land Purchase Acts, in addition to the Labourers (Ireland) Acts, 1883 to 1911, and the Congested Districts Board (Ireland) Acts?

Mr. BIRRELL

So far as I am aware the enactments to which the hon. Member refers are all comprised in the Land Purchase Acts, the Land Law Acts, the Labourers (Ireland) Acts, and the Congested Districts Board (Ireland) Acts, but it is possible that there may be enactments of this character in other Statutes.

35. Mr. O'DOWD

asked the Chief Secretary what steps, if any, the Congested Districts Board has taken with regard to the purchase of the Duke estate, situate in the Drumfin electoral division of the Sligo union; whether he is aware that the vendor's solicitor has been in communication with the Board since 1911, with a view to purchase; and, if so, can he say when the purchase will be completed?

Mr. BIRRELL

In May, 1910, the Congested Districts Board asked the owner whether he would offer this estate for sale. He replied that he was willing to do so if reasonable terms could be arranged, but so far no maps or papers offering the estate for sale have been lodged with the Board.
