HC Deb 12 November 1912 vol 43 c1789
21. Mr. FRED HALL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the appointment of Miss Roads as typist controller was made subsequent to the discussion in the House on patronage appointments, which led to the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry into the whole matter?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Colonel Seely)

The reply is in the affirmative.

Mr. FRED HALL

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether Miss Roads has been taking instruction and assistance from the very typists who were stated by the right hon. Gentleman in this House to be incapable of taking the position of controller?

Colonel SEELY

I have no knowledge of that. That does not arise out of the answer. Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will give notice of the question.

Mr. FRED HALL

I will do so.
