HC Deb 12 November 1912 vol 43 cc1788-9
20. Colonel YATE

asked on what date the Grant of a contribution from the Indian revenues was made by the Secretary of State and Council of India to the Under-Secretary of State for India during his tour in India; what was the amount of that contribution; whether the question of its Grant was previously submitted for the recommendation of the Government of India; and on what date the Accountant-General was instructed to make no payment on account of that Grant?

Mr. BAKER

The Secretary of State in Council sanctioned on 30th July, 1912, the payment from Indian revenues of the actual travelling expenses of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and a Grant of £100 a month to cover his subsistence and other personal expenses. The answer to the third part of the question is in the negative. The instructions to make no payment were given to the Accountant-General on 20th September.
