HC Deb 12 November 1912 vol 43 cc1806-7
59. Mr. WATT

asked the Lord Advocate whether he has during the last three years offered any appointments as sheriffs-substitute to any members of the solicitor branch of the legal profession which have not been accepted by such solicitors; and whether his Department has formed any estimate of how many of the 3,345 solicitors in Scotland are eligible by their experience for such sheriff-substituteships?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

The answer to both parts of my hon. Friend's question is in the negative.
