asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he has yet appointed the chief entomologist of the new horticultural department of the Board, and, if so, at what salary; and whether, and to what extent the staff of this department is still incomplete?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have appointed Mr. J. C. F. Fryer to be the chief entomoligst of the horticultural branch of the Board, at a salary of £500 a year rising by annual increments to £700. There remain to be filled one general inspectorship and two inspectorships, one of which became vacant only a week ago.
