HC Deb 04 November 1912 vol 43 c843
95. Captain DONELAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners have considered the case of Myles Byrne, son of Laurence Byrne, an evicted tenant on the Earl of Meath's estate, county Wicklow, for an' equivalent holding, as his father's holding has been taken and since purchased by another tenant?

Mr. BIRRELL

Byrne's application was not received within the time prescribed by the Evicted Tenants Act, and cannot be dealt with under that Act. The holding formerly occupied by Byrne's father has been acquired by the present occupier under the Land Purchase Acts, and the Estates Commissioners cannot interfere in the matter.

Mr. HAYDEN

Is it not the fact that the Commissioners have acquired a considerable amount of tenant land in county Wicklow, and, if so, is there any difficulty in providing for this man?

Mr. BIRRELL

I will make inquiry into that,
