HC Deb 14 May 1912 vol 38 cc947-8
Captain MURRAY

asked whether the officers who were recalled from leave to go to Belfast on the occasion of the speech recently delivered in that city by the First Lord of the Admiralty were to be granted travelling expenses?

Colonel SEELY

Instructions have been issued in accordance with precedent to refund to these officers actual and necessary travelling expenses incurred by them on recall in cases in which on the expiration of the special duty they reverted to leave at the places from which they were recalled.

MARQUESS of TULLIBARDINE

Is it put down against the Army Votes?

Colonel SEELY

Yes, not the Admiralty Votes.

Colonel YATE

Is it the case that the manœuvres in Ireland have been abolished this year owing to the expense incurred?

Colonel SEELY

There is no foundation whatever for that suggestion.
