§ Mr. GREENEasked the Postmaster-General whether only half an hour for dinner is allowed to the famale clerks and sorters at the Money Order Department, Manor Gardens, Holloway; and whether, in view of the provisions of the Shops Act, he will arrange that a longer period for 786 dinner should be allowed to these employés?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The hours of attendance of female assistant clerks and of women sorters being eight a day and of women clerks seven a day, their conditions are very different from the usual conditions of shop assistants. There is a dining-room on the premises of the Money Order Department. In these circumstances, the meal intervals are not considered insufficient.
