HC Deb 09 May 1912 vol 38 cc577-8
Mr. FRED HALL (Dulwich)

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, whether it is proposed to make any reduction in the contribution payments under the National Insurance Act, if, owing to no arrangements or an incomplete understanding only being come to with the medical profession, the medical benefits under the Act have to be wholly or partly suspended at the outset?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No, Sir. If medical benefit is suspended the Act provides that the insured persons will receive its actuarial equivalent, i.e. (in the case of men) 9d. for every 4d. contributed by them in respect of medical benefit, and in the case of women 8d. for every 3d. so contributed.
