HC Deb 28 March 1912 vol 36 c596
Mr. BRADY

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General a question, of which I have given him private notice, namely, whether he is in a position to give the House any information regarding the continued delays in the running of the Irish mail trains between Holyhead and Euston?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Herbert Samuel)

I have been in communication with the London and North-Western Railway Company on the subject of the delay to the Irish mails, and they inform me that until there is a clearer prospect of the coal supply being restored to its normal condition, they find themselves obliged to adhere to their decision not to run any of their trains at a speed exceeding forty-five miles an hour.

Mr. BRADY

Is there the same delay on any other mail service? The trains are an hour and a-half late in some cases?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I am sorry to say there are delays on the lines of several companies, though not of all.
