asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the date of the National Insurance Act coming into force, he will state what steps have been taken in conjunction with the Pharmaceutical Society to frame by-laws under Clause 4 (b) of the Pharmacy Act, 1908, for the registration of Army compounders and apothecaries' assistants as chemists?

I am informed that the Pharmaceutical Society are in communication with the War Office on the matter as regards qualified military dispensers, and that the question of certified assistants to apothecaries is also receiving the Society's active consideration.
