HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 c2075
Dr. CHAPPLE

asked the hon. Member for the Epping Division, as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, whether in the statement of accounts by the Kitchen Committee any sum is included to represent rent, light, firing, heating, furniture, breakages, and table and kitchen accessories; and whether the loss of £3,500 on the year's transactions represents what Members eat, drink, and smoke beyond their payments?

Colonel LOCKWOOD

I beg leave to inform the hon. Member that there is no chairman of the Kitchen Committee at the present time, but by the leave of the House I may be allowed to give the reply. The hon. Member is under a misapprehension. The statement issued to Members is a statement of purchases and sales. Cigars and wines are brought and laid down, and these come into subsequent years. The loss on the year's trading was £1 19s.
