HC Deb 12 March 1912 vol 35 cc968-9
Mr. CASSEL

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the fact it that the Committee stage of the Metropolitan Police Rate Bill is to be taken shortly, he will furnish members representing constituencies in the Metropolitan area with particulars showing how the estimated deficiency on the Police Fund is arrived at?

Mr. McKENNA

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer Which I gave him on the 7th instant. I shall be glad, however, to send him a copy of a letter which I have addressed to the London County Council on this subject.

Mr. CASSEL

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that, as the ratepayers of London have to find the whole of the money, they are entitled at least to have particulars of how the estimated deficiency has been arrived at?

Mr. McKENNA

There has been no change in policy as regards the police in London for a great many years.
