HC Deb 11 March 1912 vol 35 c820
Mr. LUNDON

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether his attention has been called from time to time to the price lists published regarding the sale of Irish butter in the English markets; how are such lists obtained; and, in view of the dissatisfaction which prevails throughout Ireland and the differences of opinion which exist among those having knowledge of the dairying industry in Ireland on the subject, will something be done to have the Returns carefully gathered, as it was well known that, during most of last year Irish butter was returned at 5s. and 6s. per hundredweight less than the prices actually obtained in the markets?

The VICE-PRESIDENT of the DEPARTMENT of AGRICULTURE (Ireland, Mr. T. W. Russell)

The lists referred to in the question of the hon. Gentleman are those published by the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, as was explained in reply to a question on 16th December last. The Department has no information to show that the Irish butter was returned at 5s. to 6s. per hundredweight less than the prices actually obtained in the markets.
