HC Deb 04 March 1912 vol 35 c8
Captain MURRAY

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether, in future, he would couse copies of all Orders issued by his Department to local authorities to be circulated at the same time to Members representing agricultural constituencies?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I understand the hon. and gallant Gentleman's question to refer to Orders made under the Diseases of Animals Acts. The principal Orders made under the Acts are included in the Handbook of the Acts and the Orders made thereunder which is issued by the Board and can be purchased through the usual channels. The local Orders are of no great general interest, and I think that little would be gained by the distribution of them among Members of this House. Perhaps it would satisfy the hon. and gallant Member if arrangements were made to have copies of all Orders of general interest deposited in the Library of this House for the benefit of any Members who may wish to consult them.

Captain MURRAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the practice suggested in the question is carried out by the Scottish Education Department, and that it is a great convenience to hon. Members?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am afraid there is no accurate analogy between the practice of the Scottish Education Department and that of the Board of Agriculture. If hon. Members wish to have copies of the Orders I shall be only too glad to supply them.
