HC Deb 20 June 1912 vol 39 c1838
59. Mr. LARDNER

asked how many applications have been made in Ireland for telephone service under the revised rural party line rates; how many such applications have been granted; how many refused; and how many rural party line services are now actually in operation in Ireland?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

From a telegraphic report I find that sixty-four applications for telephone rural party lines have been received by the secretary of the Post Office in Dublin. In twenty-three cases the number of subscribers has been insufficient to allow of lines being provided. Quotations have been given in thirty-three cases, of which eight have been accepted, fifteen refused, and ten are outstanding. There are eight other cases under inquiry. No lines are actually in operation as yet.
