HC Deb 19 June 1912 vol 39 c1676
20. Mr. KING

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether his attention has been called to the fall of glass or other material on the amber panes in the roof of the Chamber which sometimes takes place when the gas is burning above; and whether all possible means have been taken to prevent any occurrence dangerous to hon. Members?

Mr. WEDGWOOD BENN (Lord of the Treasury)

The glass chimneys are sometimes broken by the heat and fall on the amber panes. A wire netting reduces the risk of broken glass coming through on to the floor of the House.
