asked what salaries are paid to teachers in secondary schools in Wales?

The salaries paid to teachers in Grant-earning secondary schools in Wales on the 31st January, 1911, varied, in the case of the eighty-three headmasters, from £199 to £708, and, in the case of the twenty-four headmistresses, from £198 to £583, the average being in the case of the men £369, and in the case of the women £311. The salaries of the 444 men assistant teachers varied from £70 to £290, and of the 387 women assistant teachers from £60 to £220, the average being in the case of men £151, and in the case of women £121.
