§ 43. Mr. KINGasked if seven Church of England schools in Birkenhead have been warned since 1910 that their buildings must be improved or that their grants may be withdrawn; that the local appeal for these schools asks for £11,000 to set 1484 these schools in good structural repair; that hitherto after many months of collecting efforts less than £5,000 has been obtained, and that of the amount obtained £1,000 is taken from the funds of accumulated school pence in the hands of the managers; and whether the Board will take immediate steps to see that the children attending these schools shall no longer be educated in buildings long since condemned as inadequate?
Mr. PEASEPerhaps the hon. Member will allow me to refer him to the answer I gave him on this subject on Wednesday last. The Board have no information as to the amount for which an appeal has been made by the managers or as to the amount already raised.
