HC Deb 18 June 1912 vol 39 c1499
9. Sir WILLIAM BYLES

asked whether the attention of the Secretary of State for India has been drawn to the statement in the last Administration Report of the Government of Eastern Bengal and Assam that Mr. Noel Williamson's presence in the Abor country at the time of his murder was due to the fact that he had gone there to inquire into the extent of Tibetan influence in that direction; and whether this mission was undertaken with the sanction or approval of the Government of India or the Government of Eastern Bengal and Assam?

Mr. MONTAGU

The Secretary of State has seen the statement referred to, which is in accordance with the information which I gave in reply to my hon. Friend's question of 31st October, 1911. The latter part of his present question I answered in the negative both on 31st October and on 7th November last.
