HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 cc1298-9
23. Mr. PETO

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the various forms of recognition which have been awarded in the United States to Commander A. H. Rostron, R.D., R.N.R., of the Cunard royal mail steamer "Carpathia," have been brought to his attention; and whether he proposes to take any steps to secure adequate recognition of the services of the commander, officers, and crew of the royal mail steamer "Carpathia" in this country?

Mr. ROBERTSON

The attention of the Board of Trade has been called to the various forms of recognition of the services of Commander Rostron and the crew of the "Carpathia" to the survivors of the "Titanic." The Board appreciate very highly the services rendered, but it is not their practice to grant rewards for services of this kind when rendered by one British ship and crew to another British ship and crew.
