HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 c687
44. Captain FABER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state whether there has been any trouble during the current year in North Somaliland; and, if so, whether he can make any statement?

Mr. HARCOURT

There has been fighting between the Mullah and the friendly tribes with varying success. There has also been a certain amount of intertribal fighting among the friendly tribes themselves as the result of the looting habits of the Somalis, which appear to be ineradicable. I am not prepared to make any further statement at present.

Sir J. D. REES

Is this Mullah the same Mullah that was so often dead?

Mr. HARCOURT

Yes, Sir; or a very close relative.

Mr. JOHN WARD

He used to be mad.
