HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 cc680-1
34. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can state the number of racing commission agents and bookmakers assessed to Income Tax in London, the rest of England, Scotland,. Ireland, and Wales, respectively, and the total profits respectively disclosed; and can he state whether they are assessed on earned or unearned income?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

I regret that the information asked for in the first part of my hon. Friend's question is not available. With regard to the second part, such profits are regarded as coming within the definition of "earned income" contained in Section 19 (7) of the Finance Act, 1907.
