HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 cc696-7
77. Viscount WOLMER

asked the Attorney-General whether his attention has been called to the judgment of the Deputy of the Chancellor at the Manchester Assizes in the case of Gaskell and others versus the Lancashire and Cheshire Miners' Federation and others, on 25th March last; and whether the Government intend to introduce legislation to alter that decision so as to prevent men from being deprived of their livelihood by the conspiracies of others?

Mr. McKENNA

The action was brought against the Federation and against individuals who were alleged to have committed illegal acts. It was decided that the action did not lie against the Federation, and that the individuals had not committed illegal acts. The Government does not see any reason to introduce legislation to alter this decision.
