HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 c677
14. Sir J. D. REES

asked what extra cost to the revenues of India would result from the representation on the Legislative Council of the Governor-General of the three administrations of Bihar, Bengal, and Assam, as compared with the cost in the case of the two Lieutenant-Governorships of Bengal and Eastern Bengal?

Mr. MONTAGU

It is not proposed at present to increase the number of members of the Legislative Council of the Governor-General, but certain rearrangements are contemplated as regards the position of provincial representatives as whole-time members of the Imperial Council, the exact cost of which cannot yet be estimated.
