HC Deb 25 July 1912 vol 41 c1328
13. Mr. NEWMAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that nineteen head of cattle were driven off the farm of Mr. Fell, near Water-grasshill, county Cork, on the night of the 13th instant; that fifteen of these cattle have since been recovered at distances of eight miles from where they were driven; that four are still missing; and that cattle have previously been driven from this farm; whether any police have been stationed on the land; and, if so, in view of the outrage in question, whether such force will be immediately strengthened?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

The police authorities inform me that on the 13th instant nineteen head of cattle were driven off the farm referred to, and that all the cattle have since been recovered, some at a considerable distance from the farm. On the 13th February, 1910, twelve head of cattle were driven off this farm. There is a police hut on the farm occupied by three men, and it is not considered necessary Jo augument that force, but special arrangements have been made for the men at the neighbouring station to assist in protecting Mr. Fell's property from further molestation.
