HC Deb 25 July 1912 vol 41 c1332
24. Earl WINTERTON

asked how many arrests have been made in connection with the Castledawson outrage, and if the person who assaulted the child who was carrying a Union Jack has been apprehended?

Mr. BIRRELL

Proceedings for riot were taken by summons against thirty-six persons identified by the police as having taken part in the disturbance at Castledawson. The case against the twenty-nine defendants belonging to the Hibernian party was finished yesterday, when twenty-three of them were returned for trial to next Assizes. The man referred to in the evidence as having seized a flag is among those so returned. The charges against the other side have still to be investigated before the justices.
