HC Deb 22 July 1912 vol 41 c805
57. Mr. CLYNES

asked whether the National Association of Midwives is being asked to nominate representatives for the insurance committees; if not, will he state the reason; and whether a deputation from the association was informed last year that the association would have the opportunity of being represented?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No, Sir; the association referred to in the question is not regarded as sufficiently representative of the midwives' profession over the whole of England to be asked to nominate the mid-wives' representatives for the insurance committees. No promise was given to the association that it would be asked to nominate these representatives; but, as a matter of fact, some of its members have been appointed on the committees.
