HC Deb 22 July 1912 vol 41 cc805-6
61. Mr. WILLIAM PEEL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he can give the names of any well-known friendly societies operating in country districts who pay 4s. per head for medical attendance?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The Usual payment by the friendly societies is something like 4s. a head. Of the two largest friendly societies I am informed that in the majority of cases country lodges of the Manchester Unity of Odd fellows pay 4s. a head for medical attendance and medicine in country districts, and that this is also a common figure for similar work in the case of the branches of the Ancient Order of Foresters. I believe that most of the other great affiliated orders pay a similar amount per member.
