HC Deb 19 July 1912 vol 41 cc684-5
48. Mr. BIRD

asked whether, in the case of 150 workmen in Wolverhampton on Monday last with whose application for unemployment books the local Labour Exchange had failed to comply, but the representative of which subsequently permitted the men to start work without the books, the Government will pay the wages lost by these men from no fault of their own?

Mr. ROBERTSON

My information appears to show that every facility was offered by the manager of the Wolverhampton Exchange to employers of workmen who had failed to obtain their unemployment books by Monday morning last. If, however, the hon. Member will supply me with additional details further inquiry shall be made.
