HC Deb 19 July 1912 vol 41 cc671-2
63. Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what cause he attributes the fact that from 1st April to 13th July, 1912, the amount of payments from the Treasury to Local Taxation Accounts was less by £114,336 than it was during the same period of last year?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The issues from the Exchequer to the Local Taxation Accounts are regulated by the requirements of the distributing Departments (within the limits of the Grants) and are not necessarily made in the same amounts or on the same dates in each year. The issues between 1st April and 13th July, 1912, happen to have been smaller than they were in the corresponding period of the previous year; but this accidental circumstance indicates no shrinkage in the total amounts available.
