HC Deb 19 July 1912 vol 41 cc661-2
19. Mr. GEORGE ROBERTS

asked if provincial printing firms are allowed to tender for Government work such as that connected with the National Insurance Act, etc., on equal terms with London firms; and, if so, the methods by which firms are invited to tender?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Provincial printing firms are invited to tender for Government work except in the few cases where special circumstances require the work to be done in London. For ordinary work the invitations to tender are issued by way of advertisement in the Press (daily and trade papers), and, in addition, a separate invitation is addressed to every firm on the Stationery Office list of contractors.
